Columbus Road Baptist Church

Adams County All Our Kids Birth to Five Network

             Adams County AOK is a community-based collaboration that is committed to developing well-coordinated, easily-accessible systems of care that promote positive health, social-emotional development and spiritual relationships and connections that ensure all young children and their families have the opportunity to receive the services they need.  Network partners include but are not limited to:  family members, health, early intervention, faith-based, mental health, child care, education, human services, recreation, city/state government,  and law enforcement.  Regular meetings are held throughout the year where network and community partners gather to discuss how to better serve families in our community.  By attending AOK Network meetings and taking an active role in identified AOK initiatives; partners promote positive strength-based relationships with child, their families and the community as a whole.

Illinois Department of Children and Family Services
            

             The Department of Children and Family Services is the State of Illinois agency mandated to investigate child abuse and neglect, and to provide necessary, supportive and preventive services to families.  The focus is the safety and wellbeing of children and their families.   In addition to investigative services, preventative services can be provided to children who remain in the home of their parent.  The agency also provides placement and reunification services for children who have been removed from the home due to safety issues.  The agency also licenses foster homes, day care homes and day care centers.  The Quincy Field Office services Adams, Hancock and Pike Counties.  To report suspected child abuse or neglect, the 24 hour hotline number is 1.800.252.2873.  Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm, excluding holidays.  For more information, individuals can call the office at 217.221.2525, and ask to speak to an intake worker.

Adams County Health Department 

             The mission is Disease and Injury prevention, Health Protection and Health Promotion.   Health Protection- Protection of public health through the following programs and services: permitting and inspection of Restaurants, Tanning Parlors, Drinking Water wells and Wastewater systems, the West Nile Virus surveillance program and nuisance complaints, child and adult immunizations, seasonal flu clinics, foreign travel counseling & immunization, and tuberculosis testing, emergency preparedness for Bioterrorism and Pandemic Influenza, HIV and Sexually Transmitted disease prevention, communicable diseases, Illinois breast and cervical program, and Safe Kids.  Health Promotions:  Teaches prevention is the best protection.  Programs include Dental Clinic, PATCH, Healthy Communities/Healthy Youth, and Teen REACH.  Maternal Child Health: Improving the health and well-being of pregnant women, mothers and their young children through WIC (Women, Infant and Children), Newborn Visits and Family Case Management services.

Child and Family Connections

           Child & Family Connections is a statewide program serving children from Birth up to their third birthday. We provide screenings, evaluations and assessments in order to determine if the child maybe eligible for ongoing services. Some of the services maybe: Developmental Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and other services. Children with suspected delays in Adams, Brown, Cass, Morgan, Scott, Pike, Jersey , Greene & Calhoun Counties should call our office 217-222-9592 or 888-222-9592

Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Illinois

           Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Illinois serves youth 5-17 by providing quality adult volunteer mentors to at-risk children in Adams, Brown, Cass, Morgan and Schuyler counties. Our mission is to help children reach their full potential through professionally-supported, one-to-one relationships. We have offices in Quincy and Jacksonville.

Madonna House

           Madonna House provides a 24 hour supervised shelter.   We can serve a maximum of 5 families at one time, with a house capacity of 11-14 individual family members.  Our mission is:  “To provide a safe, nurturing home environment where homeless pregnant women and mothers with children can break the cycle of instability.”  Madonna House assists in making referrals, case management, groups, follow up, and fostering a supportive environment in which to grow.  Madonna House also provides food and clothing needs to the community.  Our food pantry is available on Tuesdays 1-3pm and Saturday 10-12pm.  Our clothing closet is available on Saturday from 1-3pm. 

LifePoint Bible Church

             LifePoint is a Christ-centered church in Quincy that values in-depth Bible teaching and spiritual growth, relevant worship experiences, meaningful relationships with others, and opportunities to serve those in need.

Horizons Social Services of Adams County

             Horizons Social Services is a Christ-centered, faith-based non-profit agency with a mission to meet unmet needs in Quincy and the surrounding areas.  Horizons accomplishes this through the cooperative efforts of churches and social service organizations.  Horizons operates a daily soup kitchen (M-F, 12pm-1pm), a clothes closet (M-F, 10am-2pm), and a transitional work program (W, 12pm-2pm).

The Mix: WGCA 88.5 FM Radio

             “The Mix” strives be a bridge connecting the Kingdom of God to listeners in the Tri-State Area and to use radio, special events, and the internet to strengthen and enlarge the Body of Christ. “The Mix “ is a Christ-centered,  501©3 non-profit listener-supported radio ministry.  Since1987, we’ve shared the Gospel through Christian music, ministry, and outreach using broadcasting, events, and mentoring; promoting unity among Christians, and actively participating in our community.  We target a young adult audience.  WGCA is not part of any one denomination or church.  We demonstrate the highest standards of board governance, financial transparency, integrity in fundraising, and proper use of financial resources.

Quincy Early Childhood

             Quincy Early Childhood, as part of Quincy Public Schools, is a collaboration of three programs:  Head Start, Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K), and Early Childhood Special Education.  Students qualify through having an economically disadvantaged family income, are at-risk of progressing academically, and/or demonstrating a disability.  Students must be three years of age by September 1st of the year entering, unless the child has a disability.  Children with disabilities are eligible on their third birthday.  Students attend half-days Monday-Thursday.  Our center is located at 401 South 8th Street.  To schedule a screening appointment for your child, please call 228-7121.

Transitions Parents as Teachers Program

             Transitions Parents as Teachers Program is a United Way funded service that provides parenting and developmental information to families residing in Adams County. Families with children under the age of three are eligible if there are parenting and/or developmental concerns or questions. Weekly, biweekly, or monthly home visits are offered. The program is confidential, voluntary, and at no cost to families.

Young Life

             Young Life is an inter-denominational organization for adolescents founded in 1941.  We are in more than 50 countries worldwide and have been in Quincy since 1999.  Young Life believes that every adolescent deserves a chance to consider the Christian faith in terms they understand from people they trust.  Our staff and volunteers enter the world of kids, focusing on what matters to them - fun, adventure, friendship and a sense of significance. In doing so, we earn the privilege of talking to them about something that we believe matters most of all - the truth about God and His love for them. We encourage those who want to grow in their faith to explore it in study and celebrate it in a church of their choosing.  And we respectfully continue to share our lives and message with those who choose otherwise, because our friendship and love in Christ come without conditions.  We currently have two focuses: 1) Jr. High students in our WyldLife program that meets every other week, and 2) Teen Moms in our YoungLives program where mentors are paired up with girls to provide support and instruction.

Division of Specialized Care for Children

             DSCC and offers care coordination and cost-supported diagnosis and treatment for children with chronic health impairments determined eligible for program support. DSCC supports non-investigational treatment recommended by physician specialists, such as therapy, medications, specialized equipment, and supplies. For more information click on the link above.

Madison Park Church

             Madison Park seeks to facilitate positive life transformation as people encounter God in meaningful ways, connect with God’s people around God’s word, and serve our community and the world. For the purposes of the Community Connections Clearinghouse, we offer Marriage and Family Counseling and a children’s clothes closet, as well as the resource of our people who care about others.

Cornerstone

             Cornerstone helps people meet life challenges through counseling, casework and psychiatric services. Counseling services address mental health and interpersonal issues for all ages. Specialized counseling services offered free to adoptive families who meet eligibility criteria. Caseworker services include programs to help children and at-risk youth achieve success at school and to prevent child abuse and neglect. Casework services are free to families who qualify. Psychiatric services include evaluation and medication management for all ages.   Cornerstone is a Preferred Provider for most insurance companies and Employee Assistance providers. Counseling offered on sliding scale basis subject to limited United Way funding.

The Well House

             The Well House is a non-profit organization that provides help and hope to women in transition from jail to society.  Women who enter the program receive spiritual guidance and mentoring in financial and practical matters.  The Well House mentors help ladies search for employment and housing.   They provide accountability, support, and love as women start again in a new life.

Transitions of Western Illinois

Transitions of Western Illinois is a charitable, not-for-profit agency that provides a comprehensive array of mental health, educational, and rehabilitation services.  The agency serves people who have a developmental disability and/or a mental illness, as well as people who are having emotional adjustment problems.  Services include individual and family counseling services, psychiatric services, case management and recovery services for those with a serious mental illness, vocational and life skills training services, developmental services for the young child, educational services for children with severe developmental disabilities, crisis intervention services, and residential services (group homes and supported apartments).

Access Health Adams County

             Access Health Adams County (AHAC) provides coordinated healthcare access to the uninsured population of Adams County, IL.  Participants must be under the age of 65, Adams County resident, and meet income guidelines.  Clients receive healthcare from a volunteer network of providers known as the Physician Led Access Network (PLAN) and pay on a sliding fee scale based on household income.  AHAC care management staff assist with coordination of health and social services and supports treatment adherence.

Chaddock

             Chaddock is a faith-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing hope and healing to children and families. Chaddock specializes in developmental trauma and attachment and provides a wide-range of services including child and adolescent residential treatment, independent living program, group home, special education school serving children 6 to 21, three levels of foster care and adoption. The Chaddock Trauma Initiative helps children within a 75-mile radius process trauma through groups held in area schools, as well as, trains others in the field on evidence-based interventions. Caregiver Connections’ mental health consultants, a Chaddock state-wide partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Services, provide a wide range of services and supports at no cost to those caring for and educating young children.

Quanada

             Quanada seeks to empower victims of domestic violence and sexual assault by providing free comprehensive services in an atmosphere of respect and complete confidentiality.   Quanada helps victims in several areas: a 24/7 hotline, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, legal and medical advocacy, prevention education, safe shelter, follow-up services, transitional housing, food pantry, and clothing room. The Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Team has someone available to meet a victim at the Emergency Room 24 hours a day, every day.  A crisis counselor is available 24 hours a day and all confidential and free services are provided in Adams, Brown, Hancock, Schuyler and Pike Counties.

New Start Rescue Mission

             New Start Rescue Mission is a bible based, Christ centered, spiritual program to help men who want to change their lifestyles. The men are enrolled in a 6 month supervised and structured program to assist them in learning their new walk of life through the teachings of Christ. This will result in new and meaningful relationships and provide the tools needed for a victorious and productive life in our community.  The secondary function of the New Start Rescue Mission is to provide shelter to homeless men during inclement weather on a short term basis.  New Start Rescue Mission is not for-profit, non-denominational ministry geared to the furtherance of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The foundation of our mission is that Jesus Christ can change any man and set them free from the bondage of Satan, sin, and destructive behavior.

Quincy Christian School

             Quincy Christian School-- Providing a Christian world view, quality education for 4 year old through 12Th grade. Quincy Christian School is an independent, non-denominational Christian School with achievement scores well above the national norms. QCS is conveniently located on the corner of 10Th and Spruce streets in Quincy and strives to work with the Christian home and local churches in training  future Christian leaders for whatever walk of life God has called them.

St. Peters Parish

             St. Peter Parish is a Catholic Community of faith bringing the light of Christ to all by serving others. We embrace opportunities to meet the needs of the underserved and needy as they surface and partner with others in our community; Unmet Needs of Adams Co, Quincy Catholic Charities, Ladies of Charity, Horizons Social Services of Adams County, Back to School Help Fair at 1st Baptist Church, Faith Based Community Nurses, Giving Wreath for Christmas.

ClearPoint Credit Counseling Solutions

             ClearPoint Credit Counseling Solutions is a national nonprofit that promotes consumer health through financial education. For over 30 years, ClearPoint has supported consumers as they work towards achieving their financial goals by budgeting, paying down debt, or resolving housing problems. AIM at Melanoma

             AIM at Melanoma is the largest international melanoma foundation focused on research, education, prevention, and legislation.  AIMatMelanoma.org is a one-stop, comprehensive resource for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of melanoma, developed with leading experts from the top melanoma centers throughout the world.

Quincy Humane Society

             The Quincy Humane Society was formed on July 20, 1880 and is one of the oldest continually operating humane organizations in the United States. We are a privately funded No Kill animal shelter. Our mission is to create a bond of compassion and respect between animals and people.

Community for Christ Assistance Center

             Community for Christ Assistance Center is a non profit organization that is supported by 23 area churches to provide emergency assistance to our community. We provide a food pantry, rent/mortgage and utility assistance, car fuel in emergencies for work or doctor appointments, clothing assistance for job interviews and families in need and household supplies for disaster victims. A thrift store is run to help pay for the assistance we provide. Each of our supporting churches provides volunteers on a rotating basis to help run the thrift store and food pantry. Community for Christ Assistance Center helps meet the needs of families in rural Adams, Hancock & Brown counties. As an emergency help organization, private and public donations are used to assist our clients with utility, rent/mortgage assistance and food baskets.

Grandview Church

             Grandview Church is a family of believers that’s purpose is to extend God’s love to all people, experience the heart of God in worship and empower people for life change. Ministry is available for the entire family and transportation for service is available.

The Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center

The Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center is home to West Central IL Area Agency on Aging.  WCIAAA connects a network of organizations who offer persons 60 years and older with a wide range of services and programs dedicated to helping them maintain their dignity, health, and independent living in their own homes for as long as possible.  The programs and services offered increase the quality of life for older adults and support care givers.  The Area Agency can provide information about a wide range of services and resources for seniors, their families and their care givers.

Quincy Hospitality House

The Quincy Hospitality House (QHH) provides affordable temporary lodging for patients and their loved ones accessing healthcare in Quincy. The QHH primarily serves visitors of patients. Patients may also stay at the House if they are ambulatory and have a caregiver with them. Located at 1129 Oak St., walking distance from Blessing Hospital, the House has four bedrooms, two baths, a kitchen and laundry facilities.  Rooms may be reserved by calling (217) 228-3022 or Blessing Hospital Volunteer Services at (217) 223-1200. This volunteer program was started by Blessing Hospital, the Adams County Medical Society Alliance and Blessing Volunteers in Partnership.  It is staffed by volunteer hosts and hostesses from 8 AM to 8 PM.

PACT for West Central Illinois

             PACT for West Central Illinois is part of the Adams AOK network and the Adams County Inter  Agency Council. We provide Head Start and Early Head Start services to families that live in rural Adams County, outside the Quincy Public School District; and for seven other counties.

West Central Child Care Connection

West Central Child Care Connection is a resource and referral agency serving nine counties in western Illinois.   We help parents in their search for child care, manage the child care assistance program for the State of Illinois to assist income eligible parents with the expense of child care, and offer trainings and technical assistance for persons in the field of early care and education.     Our office is located at 510 Maine Street on the 6th floor of the WCU Building.
